Taking a Step Back

TikTok, Instagram Reels, Twitter chaos… 2022 has been a wild ride for social media and we’ve still got Christmas and New Year to go. But I won’t be about for it.

It’s time to try a different tactic to break the cycle of negativity and madness. Along with an obscene amount of time, personally, wasted doom scrolling. So I’m deleting Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & TikTok as of 1st December from my phone. Looking at my usage stats, I spend on average 10 hours per week on social media! Which probably explains why the posts I save on Pocket never seem to decrease 😬

So with December around the corner, I’m switching off social media and focusing on time management. Less time scrolling means more time reading and gaining ideas that I can write about (or maybe even create videos if I want to start growing a real YouTube channel 😉).

I do plan on writing here on Medium regularly though, and probably sharing my experiences over the next few weeks, with the ultimate aim being to realign my time to create content, rather than consume content.

I might even subscribe to Medium and be able to read more posts here to gain further ideas, who knows.

For now, I’ll be deleting the apps as of 31st November, and reinstalling them on 1st January (assuming Twitter still exists by then 😂).

Thanks for reading, and who knows, maybe this will become an annual tradition.
